Thursday we had another doctors appointment. Overall things went well. His heart rate was consistently lower so the doctors and nurses were pleased except that this time he was almost too relaxed. It took him the full 30 minutes of the ultra sound to do his practice breathing and we were hooked up to the monitors for the NST and he only had a spike once. Most of the time they can't get him to settle down and this time they couldn't really get him to wake up. He is much more active in the mornings than in the afternoon so maybe that had something to do with it.
Josh had asked the ultra sound tech if she could determine a weight again. Since it had been two weeks she could but she said that she didn't have a doctors order for it. Once we told her we were trying to compare to the doctor who guessed by hand she knew exactly who we were talking about and wanted to prove him wrong. Well prove him wrong she did! Remember in an earlier post the doctor predicted by hand that baby was about 7 lbs., this time the tech measured him at 9 lbs! She said he was measuring at 41 weeks and we said that two weeks ago he was about 7 lbs. Babies should gain about half a pound a week so she remeasured. She came up with 8 lbs 15 oz. Then measured again and settled on 8 lbs 13 oz. Now she said the machine could be off by a pound give or take. So we're looking at either 8, 9, or 10 lbs. I don't think the 10 lbs would be right and when they measure me with the tape I'm about right so I don't know what to think. All I know is that I have a big baby in there. I haven't dilated anymore so that was a bit of a disappointment so now I don't think I'll be going as early as I had originally felt. A big waiting game is where we are right now. Next Tuesday is another appointment. Next week is also my last week before I need to go back to school so we'll see if I make it or not.
