My mom and Josh's mom, Sherri, came on Tuesday and were able to be here when Eli arrived. My sister and dad came down on Friday to meet Eli. We just hung out and adjusted for the weekend. The first two nights were fairly difficult since he didn't want to sleep and just wanted to cry most of the time. Thank goodness there was some help so that we could get some sleep.
The next nights were better. We are still figuring each other out and may have realized that he was still hungry when we went to sleep. Carter came home on Friday and seems to be adjusting well. He has become very protective and wants to make sure that he is still there and ok. He has given him a bunch of kisses but isn't being too rough. He does seem to bark more often when he thinks he hears something outside.
Sunday we made our first venture to the real world. We had a list at Target and Eli was a champ. He slept the whole time and started to get fussy just as we were in the checkout aisle.
Time is flying already and Eli is over one week old. It is still sort of strange that he is actually here. Overall I think we are doing as well as can be expected. Josh has had to get back to work and actually was out of town overnight Wednesday. Eli and I survived and I took in all of the cuddle time that we could get. He was a great boy last night and let me get some sleep too!! I could sit and watch his facial expressions all day. He little lips are usually just a going. I look forward to all of the wonderful memories that we will have and hopefully this blog will help me document them. One last cute picture to share:
This was how we found him sleeping one time.
