Tuesday marked week 38. We also had another doctor's appointment. Baby Eli was on his best behavior and it was the fastest appointment we've had in a while- only 1 hour. They measured him again and this time he was 8 lbs 11 oz, keeping in mind that they just measured last Thursday. Either way he is close to 9 lbs. His heart rate was perfect, he did his practice breathing right away, and the doctor was pretty impressed that things had seemed to work themselves out. He even hinted at only one appointment next week.
That idea, however, changed when we went in for our second appointment of the week on Thursday. We have pretty much decided that baby will not cooperate if we have a morning appointment. He does just fine when we go in the afternoon but when we go in the morning he is very active. Since he is very active this causes his heart rate to rise. The ultra sound went fine and was quick since he did everything they needed to see from him- fluid, heart rate, practice breathing. Then we had the NST and he reached 200 bpm again. He did come down but his base line today was about 170 instead of the 150's we've had recently.
The doctor did talk about our plan for the next couple of week though. As of now, they don't want to induce as it could potentially be more harmful than good. His weight was also brought into the conversation as well as a C-section. One thing we did decide on is that I have a doctor's note to be excused from work starting next Wednesday which means my sub will take over on the first day of school. I felt that this would help eliminate stress and hopefully will allow us to progress naturally. If labor doesn't start on it's own the doctor does not want me to go past 40 weeks, due to size, so then we may be induced or have to have a c-section. I pray that things progress naturally. What I want and what my baby and body can handle may be two different things however. The waiting game continues but we have a little more direction than we've had in the past.
