Baby On Board

This is my first attempt at this so we'll see how it goes.  Since we live farther away from family and friends I am hoping this will allow them to keep up with what's going on.

Josh and I will be expecting our first child August 21st. We're half way there and today found out that it's a boy!  Doctor said that everything appears to be right on track so far.  This was the best part for me since I haven't felt movement yet I was getting pretty anxious about the appointment.  Everything is going well though.  Even though I couldn't feel movement, baby was sure moving on the screen.  At times his hands were above his head, then his feet would be crossed.  Baby's heart rate today was 154 bpm.  The heart rate has dropped about 10 bpm every visit so far.  In our first appointment the heart rate was 181 bpm.  Technology is amazing and I could have sat and watched the screen all afternoon.

Since about week 15 I have finally started to feel better.  Between weeks 6 and 15 things were quite rough and I was just hoping it wouldn't last the whole pregnancy.  I now don't feel sick anymore and have more energy.  Below is a picture at 20 weeks.

My students have also really gotten into the idea of me having a baby.  Today they took a vote on whether they thought I was having a boy or a girl.  The votes were pretty evenly split with the boy vote winning by a few.  I however, thought it was a girl based on the myths that I had heard- being sick, high heart rate, etc.  Josh and I are beyond excited and now the real work begins to start getting ready for baby.  I can't believe we're half way already!
